Profile:
I hail from deepest Southland but passed through Dunedin for a stint at Otago where I completed degrees in French and Law in the early ‘90s. I began my working life as a lawyer and then Treasury Analyst in Wellington before returning to a law firm in Auckland in 2000. I didn’t swim as a child but stayed on solid ground with basketball and athletics. My swimming career started when I lived in a flat near Moana Pool and splashed my way through a torn Achilles tendon. After a lapsing for a number of years I resurrected that career with the Devonport Swim Club in 2007 to splash my way through a bout of arthritis. I joined the committee in 2008 and before you know it, here I am, with my first term as President having started mid 2009.

I live in Stanley Point, have 3 primary age children (one of whom swims with Snappers) and I now have my own part time legal practice. I still splash my ungainly way down the pool and in the sea, mainly to keep fit and get me to the bike leg of triathlons.

Profile: Chris Jewell, a keen swimmer and surfer who has been swimming with the club for 6 years. My main goal in life is to beat Rhys Harrison in a sea swim which I am yet to do. I have two young children (Oliver and Freida) who keep me late to the pool on most occasions. I have been the Treasurer for four years. Outside swimming I am the Commercial Manager for the Generation Team at Mighty River Power.

Profile: Growing up in Devonport and then travelling/living overseas has engendered my deep appreciation for the place and people of Devonport. In particular a love for sailing and swimming in the seas around us which my wife and I are passing on to our children. Only just staying ahead of my wife in sea swims, I'm looking forward to swimming these with our children too. Meanwhile there's work to do on my stroke, and fitness ....

Profile: I have been a swimmer since I was seven. I endured early morning training and swim competition growing up in the lovely seaside city of Gisborne.
I moved on to Surf Life Saving as a teenager and competed nationally in Surf Belt, Malibu Board and R&R at junior and senior level.
I have lived in Auckland since University days. We moved to Devonport 7 years ago and I am quite keen to give something back to swimming by helping the club help the community.
These days I enjoy pool & ocean swimming, playing guitar with my boys Louis & Connor, and fixing up houses. When not doing that I run a local software business

Profile: I learned to swim at primary school and thought I was ok at it, until I had some lessons in about 2005 and got to compare myself to some real swimmers. Suffice to say, I have improved a lot since then and now really enjoy the opportunities the club offers to improve my technique and to maintain my fitness. Outside of swimming I practise law at a firm in the CBD and play piano.
